Uniqode (ehemals Beaconstac)
US enterprise platform (formerly Beaconstac) with SOC 2, ISO 27001 and SCIM, but without EU hosting
Uniqode (known until 2023 as Beaconstac) is a SaaS provider from Uniqode Phygital, Inc., headquartered in New York with a development location in Bengaluru (India). The company launched in 2019 as Beaconstac, renamed itself Uniqode in 2023 in the course of a funding round, and operates a combined platform for QR codes and digital business cards. According to the provider, more than 50,000 companies use the solution. The product focus is clearly on medium-sized to large organizations needing central management, identity management and compliance.
In the overall ranking, Uniqode reaches 75 out of 100 points, positioning itself as a strong enterprise competitor. The rating is clearly split in two: in team and admin management (90/100), enterprise integration (82/100) and user ratings (82/100), Uniqode is among the top group. On the GDPR score (62/100) and German-language support (58/100), however, the platform falls behind from a German B2B perspective, essentially because of the US-only hosting and the lack of localization. One distinctive feature compared to many competitors: Uniqode does not sell its own physical NFC cards but supports NFC only as a sharing method; the product is primarily QR-focused.
Strengths
- Comprehensive enterprise identity features: SSO (SAML/OIDC), SCIM provisioning, connection to Microsoft Entra ID, Okta and Google Workspace; strong for large organizations
- Central team admin console with role-based permissions, enforced templates, bulk provisioning and an open API for scaling to thousands of cards
- Strong compliance basis with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 certification as well as HIPAA compliance
- Very good user ratings on G2 (approx. 4.9/5) and broad adoption (according to the provider, 50,000+ companies)
- Direct CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot) as well as Apple/Google Wallet and email signature integration
Data protection & server location
On data protection, Uniqode presents a mixed picture, which explains the GDPR score of 62/100. On the certification side, the platform is strongly positioned: Uniqode is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 certified, HIPAA-compliant and, by its own account, describes itself as GDPR-compliant, a compliance basis that many pure business card providers cannot show.
The decisive drawback from a German perspective, however, is the server location: customer data is hosted and processed exclusively in the USA. The privacy policy explicitly states that data is stored and transferred in the USA.
EU or Germany data residency is not available. This makes third-country transfer aspects (US servers, CLOUD Act access risk) relevant.
In addition, Uniqode positions itself in its GDPR communication rather as a data controller, and a data processing agreement (AVV/DPA) available to customers by default was not clearly verifiable, an open point for order processing under Art. 28 GDPR that should be clarified before signing a contract. For organizations with a strict Germany or EU hosting requirement, the US data location is a possible knockout criterion; those who primarily value recognized certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2), on the other hand, will find solid evidence here.
Enterprise readiness & integration
For enterprise suitability, Uniqode is one of the best-positioned providers in the comparison, which is reflected in 90/100 for team/admin management and 82/100 for enterprise integration. The platform offers complete identity management with SSO via SAML and OpenID Connect as well as SCIM provisioning for automated user lifecycle management (onboarding and offboarding via the directory).
Microsoft Entra ID, Okta and Google Workspace can be connected. The central team admin console includes role-based permissions, enforced templates for brand control and bulk provisioning, so that the rollout can scale to thousands of cards.
This is complemented by an open API. Among CRM systems, Salesforce and HubSpot are integrated directly; further automations run via Zapier. For sharing, QR codes, Apple Wallet and Google Wallet as well as email signature management are available; lead capture, analytics and custom branding are present.
Two limitations remain: a dedicated MDM connection (Microsoft Intune, Jamf) is not confirmed, so device distribution takes place via SSO/SCIM instead of via MDM. And the absence of its own NFC card hardware means that companies must procure physical cards separately.

Uniqode (ehemals Beaconstac) FAQ
Where does Uniqode host the data; is there EU or Germany hosting?
No. Uniqode hosts and processes customer data exclusively in the USA. The privacy policy explicitly states that information is stored and transferred in the USA; EU or Germany data residency is not available. GDPR-sensitive German companies therefore need to examine third-country transfer aspects (US servers, US CLOUD Act). Providers with dedicated Germany hosting offer a clear advantage here.
Which certifications does Uniqode have, and is an AVV available?
Uniqode is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 certified, HIPAA-compliant and, by its own account, describes itself as GDPR-compliant, a solid compliance basis. Critical for GDPR, however, is that Uniqode positions itself in its communication rather as a data controller; a data processing agreement available to customers by default (AVV/DPA under Art. 28 GDPR) was not clearly verifiable and should be actively requested before signing a contract.
What does Uniqode cost, and is it billed in euros?
We deliberately do not list specific prices, as they change frequently and are not transparently and fully available for all providers. Uniqode bills exclusively in USD and only annually (no monthly plans), with a 30-day money-back guarantee; billing in EUR is not indicated.
There is a free plan, a paid Team plan and the individually priced enterprise plan Business+. It is best to request the current conditions directly from the provider.
Does Uniqode sell physical NFC business cards?
No. Uniqode does not sell its own physical NFC cards. NFC is supported only as a sharing method; the platform is primarily focused on QR codes and additionally offers Apple Wallet, Google Wallet and email signature integration. Those who need physical NFC cards must procure them separately.
